Bianchi Supports CPR Training
Bianchi Honda presented GECAC with CPR Training
The training program of the Greater Erie Community Action Committee was greatly enhanced when Bianchi Honda, in partnership with the National Automobile Dealers Charitable Foundation, presented a Little Anne AED Training System.
The CPR training is important because it teaches a person how to keep a heart beating while waiting for professional help to arrive. If the right kind of treatment can be administered to a victim within seconds after he or she is stricken, it increases the chances of saving a life.
There has been an increase in the number of survivors from ventricular defibrillation as a result of increased CPR training across the country. The training typically takes 3-5 hours of intensive practice and lectures.
In accepting the CPR training unit, GECAC said that the organization plans to train many more people each year.
Since the NADA Foundation’s Medical Grants program began in 1975, more than 4,600 CPR training units with a value of about $3 million have been donated to organizations in all 50 states and Washington D.C. In addition, more than 2 million people have been trained on CPR units donated by car dealers.
The NADA Foundation, established in 1975, is the philanthropic arm of the National Automobile Dealers Association. Funds contributed by new car and truck dealers and friends of the industry provide financial support to schools, private colleges and universities, emergency disaster relief and other community service programs. We recently sat down with Amael and learned a little about him.
Q. Tell us a little bit about yourself.
A. I love life! I try to better myself day in and day out. I love anything with wheels and power. I enjoy hanging out with my friends and family and having as much fun as possible!
Q. What do you enjoy most about your position at Bianchi Honda? What are your duties?
A. I like the fact that every car sale is different. I meet so many awesome customers every day and it is a great feeling to know that I’m going to put them into and amazing, reliable vehicle! I sell cars and help people get into their dream car.
Q. How do you spend your time outside of work?
A. I like to travel as much as I can. I enjoy racing vehicles and pushing the limits!
Q. Which Honda model is your favorite and why?
A. 2014 Honda Civic Si because it is aesthetically pleasing and has all the features and options you could possibly want.
Q. What is the best movie you have seen lately?
A. “The Wolf of Wall Street.” It gets me super motivated to be the best I can be at work.
Q. Who is your role model and why?
A. Jason Porreco! He is one of the most humble individuals I have ever met. He’s a great leader, and I am honored to work for him.

Drivers should take extra precautions in school zones and neighborhood areas

Recognized as safe choice for teen drivers
Several model years of Honda pre-owned vehicles have been recognized by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) as part of its first-ever list of safer used vehicles for teen drivers. Research conducted by IIHS found that motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death among teenagers, and suggests that the type of vehicle driven has a big effect on the degree of risk.
Honda pre-owned vehicles earning this first recognition from IIHS as among the best, safer choices for teen drivers under $20,000 include the Honda Accord Sedan (2012 and later), Accord Coupe
(2013-14), CR-V (2012 and later), Element (2007 and later) and Honda Odyssey (2011 and later). Additionally, the Honda Pilot (2006 and later) and the Honda Odyssey (2005-10) were included on the list of good choices for teen drivers under $10,000.
Vehicles considered "best choices" for under $20,000 have good ratings for side crash protection, good head restraints and seats for rear crash protection, and good roof strength to protect occupants in rollover crashes.
Vehicles considered "good choices" for under $10,000 have good or acceptable side crash protection and head restraints rated better than poor. If rated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the vehicles earn a 4 or 5 Star Overall Vehicle Score, for model years 2011 and later, or 4 or 5 Stars in the front and side crash safety tests for earlier models tested under NHTSA's old rating system.
All Honda vehicles on the list come equipped with standard Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA®) with traction control and provide good protection in moderate overlap front crash tests. According to IIHS, systems like Honda's VSA® reduce fatal single-vehicle crash risk by about half and fatal multiple-vehicle crash risk by one-fifth.
All drivers need to recognize the special safety needs of pedestrians, especially those that are children. As a driver, you are obligated to exercise great care and extreme caution to avoid striking pedestrians.
· Know the proper laws and procedures for sharing the road safely with school buses.
· Drivers should not block the crosswalk when stopped at a red light or waiting to make a turn.
· In a school zone when the lights are flashing, drivers must stop to yield the right-of-way to a pedestrian.
· Always stop when directed to do so by a patrol officer or crossing guard
· Children are the least predictable pedestrians and most difficult to see. Take extra care to look out for children.
