Lou's News
On Oct. 8, 2014, the Pennsylvania House of Representatives unanimously approved H.R. 972. The bill, which was sponsored by State Rep. Ryan Bizzarro, designates the month of November 2014 as "Childhood Brain Stem Glioma Awareness Month" and also designates November 11, 2014, as "Jax Stone Day."
Jax was the 9-year-old son of our sales manager, Sean Stone. In September 2013, he was diagnosed with a malignant brain stem glioma tumor. Jax’s family was present at the House chamber in Harrisburg when the bill was adopted.
Despite his diagnosis, Jax remained compassionate, and optimistic. He inspired many in the Erie area and beyond with his bravery and positive attitude throughout his diagnosis. After a 9-month battle with brain cancer, Jax passed away peacefully on July 27, 2014, surrounded by his loving and devoted family.
Supporters of the bill hope that the designation will inform the public about childhood brain stem glioma and how it affects young children’s motor skills, as well as their breathing and heart function. In addition, “Jax Stone Day” will honor the young boy’s birthday.
